I’m a writer in the Milwaukee metro area. My poetry and short fiction have appeared in print and online publications, including Willow Review,  Thunderclap! Magazine, Blink Ink, Vestal Review, Microw, Midwestern Gothic, Full of Crow, Grey Sparrow Journal, Pure Slush, and Over My Dead Body. I’ve also written a young adult novel, and a new book is in progress. Click on Notebook to read some of my work.

Regarding my name: Susan Kolens, Susan K. Maciolek, and Lily Mack (my pen name) are all me. 

To see examples of my artwork, click on Sketchbook. My drawings and collage have been exhibited in years past, and work is on view in my Oak Creek studio. I combined writing and art in three illustrated stories, Adobe Dreams, Twirl, and Chiffon.

A long-time participant in Red Bird Studio round tables (now Red Oak Writing), for the past eleven years I’ve belonged to the Veggie Chip Writers. We meet twice a month for discussion and critique of our work, support essential to my writing. I’m also a member of the Chicago Writers Association and the Wisconsin Writers Association.
